Year 7 | Introduction to drama – Physical Skills  (Mime/ Melodrama)  Students will develop physical skills and knowledge of the techniques of mime and explore characterisation through the theatrical style of Melodrama.  Introduction to drama – Vocal Skills (Matilda) Students will develop vocal skills and knowledge through the exploration of theatrical techniques and character building.   | Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Exploration of a full, published script. Currently ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’  Theatre in Education Students will work in the style of Theatre in Education, gaining an understanding of issues that affect young people today and how theatre can influence change.  | Script Analysis Students will analyse script focussing on developing creativity and imagination. They will apply techniques from multiple practitioners to gain an understanding of how they can create different styles of theatre.  Devising Students will develop their understand of how to create a performance from a stimulus. They will explore the stimuli and, using a range of explorative strategies, create and perform a devised piece of Drama.     |
Year 8 | Improvisation  Students will be able to develop their improvisation skills, whilst creating and developing a deep and meaningful character.  | Macbeth Students will explore the plot and characters of a set script, culminating in a full performance, using skills and knowledge developed throughout the year so far.  | Live Theatre Review Students will focus on developing skills in analysing and evaluating live theatre. Students develop their analytical and evaluative skills |
Year 9 | Scripted – DNA  Students will explore the plot and characters of a set script, culminating in a full performance.    | Design  Students will learn elements of theatre design and create their own professional set models. | Devising  Students will devise from a range of stimulus. They will explore the stimuli and, using a range of explorative strategies, create and perform a devised piece of Drama.   |
Year 10 | BTEC Tech Award Component 1 Students will develop their understanding of the performing arts by examining the work of performing arts professionals and the processes used to create performance    | ||
Year 11 | BTEC Tech Award Component 2 Students will develop their performing arts skills and techniques through the reproduction of acting, dance and/or musical theatre repertoire as performers or designers. Â | BTEC Tech Award Component 3 Students will be given the opportunity to work as part of a group to contribute to a workshop performance as either a performer or a designer in response to a brief and stimulus. |
