Sarah Brailsford

Assistant Principal (Behaviour and Standards)

My love for teaching was kickstarted with a huge passion for school. I loved the opportunities it gave me to play sport. It was a secondary school PE teacher who really inspired me, she always pushed me and believed in my abilities, and was a huge reason for me working in education.

I was born, raised and educated in Stoke-on-Trent from Primary to University, and feel immensely proud to work in a school in the area too. I truly love to watch students learning new skills and mastering them over time, and feel the sense of curiosity and enjoyment I see in our students every day makes my job the best in the world!

When I’m not in school, I love to be outdoors and active. Skiing and Netball are a huge part of my life. I have played elite sport for most of my life – I’ve even represented England in Netball – and I run my own netball team in the Stoke-on-Trent Netball League.

The thing I love about Haywood Academy most is that we have the best students, with the biggest and brightest personalities. They are kind, polite, helpful and always want to help out. Every day is another opportunity to have fun.
