Admissions

We are pleased that you are considering Haywood Academy in Burslem for your child’s secondary education. Our school is a popular choice with parents and has become oversubscribed with a waiting list for entry in all year groups.

As a member of the schools co-operative society, we are there to serve the local community and as such, have no entry requirements for admission to Haywood Academy.

The majority of students join us at the beginning of year 7 although students can join at any stage between year 7 and 11.

Parents of students looking to join us at year 7 make an application via their local authority. Admissions for all other year groups that will expand to include years 12 and 13 (Sixth Form) are handled by us as a school application.

Full details of the application process can be found on the Local Authority website: www.stoke.gov.uk/admissions

With reference to our admissions policy our current City Learning Trust schools include Haywood Academy, City College, Mill Hill Primary Academy, Smallthorne Primary Academy and Trentham Academy.

“Without a doubt, my time at Haywood firmly placed me on the path to Oxford. My potential was recognised early on, and I received constant encouragement to strive for the best grades. With their support I achieved a great set of GCSE’s, giving me the confidence I needed to apply to Oxford.” – Jordan Williamson, former Haywood student studying law at Trinity College, Oxford.
