The P.E. Curriculum at Haywood Academy is designed to provide exciting and stimulating opportunities for all learners, with lessons carefully differentiated to ensure everyone can experience success. At the heart of our approach is the development of Competence in Sport<\/strong> \u2014 building essential foundation skills<\/strong>, tactical understanding, and strategic thinking. From Year 7 through to Year 11, students’ progress from mastering foundation skills<\/strong>, to applying tactics and strategy<\/strong>, and eventually developing Independency and beginning to implement a healthy, active lifestyle<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside this, we explicitly promote Sporting Values<\/strong> such as sportsmanship, fairness, respect, and resilience, which are modelled, practised, and celebrated across all year groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of their time at Haywood, every student will have shown clear progression in their technical sporting ability<\/strong>, sporting values<\/strong>, and personal confidence<\/strong>, enabling them to apply what they have learned both in sport and throughout life. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physical Education at Haywood Academy is an integral part of our curriculum and plays a significant role in supporting students\u2019 physical development, personal wellbeing, and character education. The department aims to ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to lead healthy, active lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Physical Education Department aims to promote positive attitudes towards physical activity and sport by providing engaging, inclusive, and appropriately challenging learning experiences. The department is committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of starting point or ability, is able to make strong progress and experience success within Physical Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sportsmanship will be at the centre of all teaching aspects within our subject. Students will be encouraged to value and respect one another\u2019s ability, self-confidence and self-esteem, and promote the Academy in the community through sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PE department also offers a range of extracurricular activities, clubs, and competitive opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom and support students\u2019 personal development and engagement with school life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
