Storage Box.
Investigate storage. Learn to mark out accurately, and use the sanding machines. Learn to use a variety of wood joints. Make a wooden storage box.
Year 8Cam toy.
Investigate a range of mechanical systems. Learn about cams. Develop 3D drawing techniques Learn to use wood screws and screwdrivers. Design and make a mechanical toy.
Torch.
Learn about electronics and electronic components. Learn about ergonomics. Design and make a hand-held electronic torch.
Desk tidy.
Investigate sustainability and recycling. Design and make a desk tidy using recycled materials.
Year 9Sweet machine.
Investigate materials and mechanisms. Further develop 3D drawing and sketching. Design and make a mechanical sweet machine.
Easter egg.
Investigate packaging design and sustainability. Investigate graphic design. Design and make a package for an Easter egg.
Passive Amplifier.
Investigate materials and their properties. Design and make a passive amplifier for a mobile phone.
Year 10    Product Design:  Stationary storage.
Investigate storage problems. Product analysis.  Learn to create detailed parts lists and plans. Design and make a stationary storage unit. Materials properties. Mechanical systems.  Electronics. Product lifecycles.
Product Design:  Portable games.
Instigate game designs.  Product analysis. Use of Design and make a portable game.  CAD, CAM.  Smart materials. Woods, metals, plastics.  Rendering. Materials finishes.
Product Design:  Portable games and NEA.
Complete the manufacture and evaluation of the portable game.  Product evaluation and testing. NEA:  Final coursework briefs from June.  Analysis of the problem.  Research and analysis.  Ideas and development.
Year 11Product Design:  NEA.
Ideas and development. Modelling and testing of ideas. Final drawings, planning and materials selection. Begin manufacture of final product. Mock exam.

Engineering:  NEA Unit 1
Unit 1. Drawing analysis of the engineered product.  Planning.  Risk assessments.  Tools and materials selection. Manufacture of engineered product.
Product Design:  NEA.
Complete manufacture of the final product.  Evaluation and testing of the final product.  Completion of coursework. Exam prep and revision.  

Engineering: NEA Unit 1 and unit 2
